Lost in the pages.

To become more social per recommendation by my therapist, I joined a book club. Thank goodness my good friend Aubrey was already in one cause it made it easier to join and less stressful of not knowing anyone.

The book club meets once a month at various locations decided by the group and so far, I love it. Everyone has been so nice and welcoming. And bonus, I love reading. It was a hobby I enjoyed before and then, life got too busy.

Since Feb, I have been reading non-stop. At first, it was books recommended by the book club; but now, I have ventured out on my own. Out of all the genres, I would say I love me a good fantasy, thriller or end of the world apocalyptic book. There’s nothing like a good character development because I believe in second chances and people can change for the better. No one is perfect. We are all a works in progress.

Some of my favorite books so far is the ACOTAR series. I love how it starts out like Beauty and the Beast and then becomes a mix of Twilight. There are a lot of similarities so if you like both of those I highly suggest reading the series. From the series, my favorite book so far is A Court of Silver Flames. Nesta is a character who you either hate or love. Initially, I didn’t like her because she was mean to everyone and shut them all out; but then again, she had her reasons. By the middle of the book, I loved her more after learning about her past traumas and why she was the way she was. And by the end of the book- I was a Nesta fan.

Book 6 and 7 comes out in Oct 2026 and Jan 2027. I am super excited!

Currently, I have started another series- Fourth Wing and this series is just as good as ACOTAR. The thing I love about Fourth Wing is the action. The Riders quadrant is savage. Violet, the main character, will be standing there talking to her friends one minute and then fighting for her life the next from an assassination attempt. This book is full of surprises. The only thing I am not looking forward to is that it’s an unfinished series.

Overall, reading has helped my mental health for the better. Whether I am imagining myself in a fantasy world or experiencing a character’s development, I enjoy getting lost in the pages. A moment to escape from reality and the harshness of life sometimes.

Lastly- if you enjoy reading as much as I do.

Add me on Goodreads. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/197669712. I would love to exchange book recommendations.

I’m Ngoc.

You don’t know me, but you will as I uncover the chapters of my life. This lovely book of mine, full of memories- some good, some everlasting, some bad and some that have not happened yet. There are no regrets. I’m not perfect. Throughout life, I have made mistakes, but “To Err is Human”. Mistakes are allowed and because of them, we learn and grow.

So here I am growing. I’m almost forty, divorced, and a mother of two. It feels like I’m starting over, and I don’t know how to feel about it.

Welcome to the next chapter of my life…. I’m going to write my heart out. ♥️
